I drew this, scanned it and worked on it a bit as a potential portfolio peice. Im a little weary of it. VA girls, any CONSTRUCTIVE comments (including teling me its not really portfolio material) would be greatly appreaciated. Also there is a shading difference between the left and the right figure... I cant figure out which is best..

and now Im going to go and try and regain some sort of decent sleeping pattern.

I really like it too! The shading on the female is best, in my opinion. The shading on the male seems just a little too...clunky? That's probably not the best word to describe it but it's the first to come to mind.
It's a nice rough little piece to add to you portfolio, in my opinion. For another piece what you could do is scan some of your favorite sketches from your sketchbooks and make a compilation page, just to give them a larger idea of the kind of illustrations you do on your own time. Or at least, that's what I plan to do for a piece. And include some muscle drawings [if they turned out alright for you and you hadn't thought of that already].
I like the shading on the male better. There is more contrast between the light and the dark.
I really like it. A lot. The problem is would they appreciate the fact that some was done on computer rather then just a full out sketch? It would work weel in Laura's compilation page though.
Love!

Actually, he seemed to like my digital self portrait and said I could put in another one or two if I had some good ones.
