have you ever looked into person for which you care a great deal for and hurt them? i mean, really look into their eyes and deliberatly cause them pain knowing full well what you are doing and watch the hurt spread over their face. Have you ever had to do that when you have never wanted to hurt a person less in your entire life? and you do this knowing full well that YOU deserve this pain in the other person. they are the innocent, why must THEY suffer? it isnt fair...
there's that expression "no pain, no gain". if you never suffer through pain, where will the gain come in? the problem is, i have no... heart... i never experience true contentment. my heart just dries up long before then. so if im never hurt, how will i grow as a person? im such a scam...
true happiness is a myth. it just doesnt exist. you can get real close to it, but there is no such thing as "happily ever after". something will always ruin it whether it be an actual problem or the simple fear of the happiness ending.

Well, it's true. Without pain there is no happiness. That's because there is no absolute. So without one to put the other in perspective, they would both cease to exist.
Maybe what you need isn't happiness. Maybe you are capable of being perfectly happy. Maybe all you need is some pain to put the rest in perspective.
Maybe I'm just dumb.
In conclusion: stop being such so damn pessimistic. It doesn't suit you.
Besides, right now, no one has more right to be pessimistic than me. Now where'd I put that shotgun?

when i say true happiness, im talking the over all happiness that will last a whole lifetime, excusing the "bad days" as jacqui put it. i really dont believe it exists. im not even saying this is a horrible thing.
on another note, who knew we'd be having philosophical debates in my comment dealy...
